Overview

Ghorepani and Poonhill hot spring trek is comparatively an easy trek that winds around Gurung villages and dense Rhododendron forest. The Himalayas in their best form are viewed from this trekking trail. The maximum height we reach in this trek is 3210m. Poonhill hot spring trek route begins at Naya pool which is about one hour drive from Pokhara. During this trekking trail, you will pass through a beautiful Gurung village, outstanding landscape, and a variety of flora and fauna. You will overview the grand south Annapurna from Ulleri village. Passing through Ghorepani village you bump into beautiful orchids, massive Himalayan bamboo, and dense Rhododendron forest.

Poonhill hot spring trek is a relatively easy walk meandering through villages and rhododendron forests. This invigorating trek reveals some of the best views of the Himalayas and is considered by many as the best viewpoint in the Annapurna region. Reaching a maximum altitude of 3210m, the completion of this trek will be comfortable for everybody with their physical fitness. The trek begins from Nayapool village which can be reached after a short drive from Pokhara. Walking towards Bhurungdi Khola you will cross some villages with their mixed cultures, lifestyle, and traditions.

While you will have a chance to see massive South Annapurna (7119m) from Ulleri village, traveling along to Ghorepani, and marvel at colorful orchids, Rhododendron forest, and Himalayan bamboo. Viewing from Poon Hill (3210m) is a reward in itself. You will not imagine the magnificence of the sunrise that you will witness from here, which illuminates the peaks of the entire range, leaving you spellbound. The added presence of rice terraces makes it a photographer's paradise. A walk downhill will bring you to Ghinudanda via Tadapani, Ghandrukafter reaching Jhinudanda (1750m), relax at natural hot spring.

Itinerary

01
Arrive in Kathmandu (1345m.)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received by our airport representative. Transfer to hotel. On the way get a glimpse of the Hindu religious Pashupatinath Temple.

Flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu (900 m)

Get on a domestic flight for a 25 minute to Pokhara with magnificent views of the snow-capped Annapurna mountain range and Langtang Himalayan range. Or you can drive by tourist coach via scenic Prithvi highway for about 6-7 hour drive. The town of Pokhara is considerably less hectic than Kathmandu and is the starting point of your trek. You can explore the old trading town of Pokhara the boating trip in Phewa lake in the evening and also have the pleasure view of the sunset over a Himalayan range of Annapurna and Fishtail.

Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1,575m / 4 hrs)

One hour drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and walk through the lush, green Modi river valley. We will show our Trekking permit and TIMS card in the Annap0urna Conservation Area project Office. It will take some 4 hrs to reach Hile 1527m. The trail winds its way through bamboo forests and passes by a spectacular waterfall. You will follow the bank of Bhurungdi Khola (river) until Tikhedhunga. Overnight at lodge/Inn. Lodge stay

Tikhedhunga trek to Ghorepani (2,850m / 7 hrs)

Walk up beside the cascading river through refreshingly cool oak and rhododendron forest. The villages we will encounter on way are charming and special in their own unique way. After a few hours of long hard climb with several breaks we will reach Ulleri Village. After lunch we go through dense oak and Rhododendron forest to Nangethati and another hour’s walk from here will bring us to Ghorepani. Overnight at lodge/Inn. Lodge stay

Ghorepani trek to Tatopani (1,780m /8-9 hrs)

Early in the morning, we will climb Poon hill (3,210m) to watch the out of this world view of sun rising over the majestic Himalayas. From Poonhill, as the sun touches the snow-capped summits, the Himalayan giants - Dhaulagiri (8167m) and Annapurna (8091m) along with the jagged edge of other peaks - gradually reveal their grandeur. Trek to Jhinu Danda (1740m) walking (6 hrs)

There is a natural hot Spring about 20 minutes away to relax in. Stay overnight at the lodge. Overnight at lodge/Inn. Lodge stay

Today is the last day of trekking (5 hrs)

We will trek downhill to Phedi village through the forests that are so overgrazed that it looks like a manicured municipal park. Then catch our vehicles and drive to Pokhara for lunch. After Lunch, you are free on your own in Pokhara. Overnight at the hotel.

FLIGHT BACK TO KATHMANDU

Rest time free for own activities. Overnight at the hotel. Explore Kathmandu. Valley sightseeing starts at about 09:00 A.M. We will visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, Museum, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Dattatreya Square, Nyatapola, Pottery places.

Final Departure

You will check out of Hotel and taken it to the airport. Take a flight to the next destiation.

Here’s a complete rundown of what to bring if you’re planning a camping or tea-house trek in Nepal. Proper preparation and equipment for the conditions will go a long way to ensuring you have a great trekking experience.  What follows is a pretty comprehensive list and will make sure you are covered in the coldest months of the year. If you have questions on what you might need just ask us and keep in mind that Kathmandu is a great place to buy trekking gear at affordable prices.


IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS AND ITEMS

  • Valid passport, 2 extra passport size photos, airline tickets
  • Separate photocopies of passport, visa form (easily obtained at Kathmandu airport), proof of insurance
  • Dollars, pounds, or Euros in cash for purchasing Nepalese visa at Kathmandu airport, for paying for restaurants and hotels, for gratuities, snacks, and to purchase your own drinks and gifts
  • Credit cards, Bank/ATM/Cash machine cards for withdrawing funds from cash machines (bring a photocopy of your cards), traveler's checks, etc.
