Mera
is one of the most beautiful and the highest of Nepal's
permitted trekking peaks. It rises from the south of
Everest and dominates the watershed between the wild and
heavily wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drangkas,
and is not truly
speaking part of the Khumbu Himal. Both the Hongu and
Hinku Valleys remain uninhabited although there are few
Kharka in the upper Hinku basin. Its an easy snow climb
from the Mera, but sometimes crevasses complicate the
route. Far and above the most rewarding aspect of a trip
to Mera is a chance to venture into a little-visited and
as yet un spoilt region of Nepal, where the hillsides
are still densely forested and a need to be
self-sufficient is essential. Mera can be approached
from different directions; none are easy and some
require the crossing of high and difficult passes,
making a trek to the peak a real mountaineering
adventure for which effort is rewarded with spectacular
scenery and ultimately one of the finest viewpoints in
Nepal.
Seen
from above Dingboche the mountain does indeed resemble an island in a
sea of ice. In 1983 it was renamed Imja Tse (6,189 m, although for most
people the descriptive name of Island Peak seems to have been retained).
This peak involves one steep and exposed 100 m ice or snow climb,
otherwise its non-technical snow climb is enjoyable and offers some of
the most striking scenery in the
Khumbu. The mountain itself is really an extension of the South ridge of
Lhotse Shar and is separated from it by a small col.

LOBUCHE
EAST 16 DAYS |
Region: Everest |
Grade: Alpine |
Lobuche at the height of 6145m, is an attractive summit, offering a variety of existing
routes and a wide scope for new lines. This peak lies in the Everest region of Solu Khumbu
district and is reached by trekking for about 7/8 days from Lukla the nearest airport.
There exist two distinct summits to Lobuche Peak: Lobuche East (6,119m/20,075 ft) and
Lobuche West 6,145m/20,161 ft). The true East Peak is quite striking and is reached by
descending into a marked notch and climbing steep snow/ice slopes to the top. The top is
exposed and often covered with rotten ice.

PACHERMO
14 DAYS |
Region: Rolwaling |
Grade: Alpine |
This peak of 6187m, located in a Rolwaling region, can be approached either from
Rolwaling or from Khumbu. Both treks have to be fully organized as there are no tea
houses. Its an attractive mountain, but steep snow climbing is necessary on a route
subject to avalanches. The peak is just above Tashi Lapcha. Nepal Mountaineering
Association call this peak Parchemuche.
This
is one of the most outstanding and spectacular high alpine valley trek, in
the north east of Nepal. The trek starts from the busy bazaar of Barabise
on the highway to Tibet. Leaving the civilisation behind our trek head
towards in the tranquillity of the mountains, alpine forest of
rhododendron and magnolia amidst the hidden land of Rolwaling Valley. The
trek leads to the last village of this area Rolwaling at Beding. Our
adventurous journey continues farther east to scale the 5,925 meter
Ramdung Peak. The climb is not technically hard, but it is certainly
challenging on account of the altitude and the peak's remoteness. Ramdung
offers an excellent view of Everest, Melungtse and Gaurishankar and array
of other snow peaks.

THARPU
CHULI 16 DAYS |
Region: Annapurna |
Grade: Alpine |
This peak, also known as Tent Peak, is situated in the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary,
around 5 days walk from Pokhara. It is an attractive mountain and part of the ridge line
south from Glacier Dome, that includes Singu Chuli and acts as a central divider between
the semi circle of peaks enclosing the sanctuary. Seen from the moraines above the huts at
the Annapurna South base camp, the mountain takes on a shape, aptly described by its
former name Tent Peak. You will have a great time climbing this mountain with superb views
of the Annapurna massive.

SINGU
CHULI 14 DAYS |
Region: Annapurna |
Grade: Alpine |
Singu Chuli with a height of 6105m, is the mountain formerly known as Fluted Peak.
Although it has quite an easy access, this mountain has proven too difficult for most
commercial climbing groups, so most of them concentrate their efforts on Tent Peak. This
peak of 6501m is named for the steep ice slopes and can be approached from Pokhara by
trekking into Annapurna sanctuary.

PISANG
PEAK 18 DAYS |
Region: Annapurna |
Grade: Alpine |
Pisang Peak (6091m) rises from yak pastures above the village in a uniform slope to the
final summit pyramid, which is an undistinguished snow and ice slope. The peak obviously
has a lot of scope for exploration and pioneering. The whole of the western flank, which
is guarded by a hanging glacier, would appear to offer a considerable challenge. Its a
long snow slog above Pisang village, steep snow at the top. The mountaineering school at
Manang uses Pisang Peak for training climbs.

NAYA
KANGA 16 DAYS |
Region: Langtang |
Grade: Alpine |
This
marvellous adventure begins with a scenic drive to Syabrubesi village at the
foothills of Langtang and Ganesh Himal. From here our trek follows through
wide range of villages and flora with the view of the high snow capped
peaks, on reaching the high Langtang Valley and Kyangin Gompa. View of Naya
Kanga is visible, a shapely mountain rising to the west of the Ganja La
(5,122m/16,800ft). For acclimatisation and high altitude exercise we take a
walk and a climb to 5,550 m. Yala Peak. We have a day here before the summit
for necessary preparation. The normal climbing route to summit on Naya Kanga
is via the North-East Ridge, classically alpine in character and amidst the
grand view of the surrounding high peaks including Langtang Lirung, Dorje
Lakpa, Shisapangma and to the far western range of Mt Ganesh Himal and
Annapurna.
Permits for these trekking peaks can be obtained on the payments.
