I and my friends had the adventure of a lifetime organised by Basnet and his team. We travelled from Kathmandu over the Himilaya to Lhasa and Everest on original British Enfield motorbikes. It was more than a holiday. It was planned but still unexpected, making it exciting and engaging every day. The riding was superb and at times tough. The scenery beyond description and breath taking. The support staff were most capable, helpful and cheerful, a great team to have with us. I'd recommend this trip to anyone looking for a memorable ride.
I did this tour in 2009 and really enjoyed it; a bit adventure and a bit holiday. I made my way to Nepal on my own but met up with some great guys from Holland and everyone got on really well together. Basnet is a really cool guy and he and his team made sure everything went to plan. We had a couple of sightseeing days in Kathmandu, then some brilliant riding and ended up in Lhasa and saw what it’s really like! Then back via Everest to Nepal. The bikes were well prepared and the accommodation was as expected; not luxurious but clean and comfortable. I’ve done several tours in the Himalayas and other places, in groups and on my own but this was probably the best of all. A small group of riders, knowledgeable and experienced guides and the wonderful Nepalese and Tibetan people. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Fantastic Motorcycle Adventure
A friend and I travelled with Parikrama Treks, Kathmandu, Nepal to Lhasa, Tibet on a pair Royal Enfields. They arranged all the paperwork and let us get on and enjoy the ride, we were followed by a back up truck and some super guys to help us along the way. There was a mechanic, driver and a Tibetan guide. I would recommend Parikrama Treks, Kathmandu, Nepal to anyone. It really was a trip of a lifetime.
I've just completed (Sept 2013) my trip of a life time. Touring with Parikrama Tours from Kathmandu to Lhasa and back, riding via Mt.Everest base camp. With only 3 riders the group was small but ideal. Apart from day one when it rained the weather was perfect. Our support crew was exceptional, with all the tiring Chinese checkpoints which the guide got us through as quick as possible. Every morning and night the mechanic checked / serviced the bikes. With only a couple of minor breakdowns, the bikes performed very well for the conditions.
The trip to EBC was on rough, dusty gravel road of about 160km round trip in length, easily accomplished by a skilled rider. The rest of the roads throughout Tibet were of good to excellent standard. It was a fantastic trip but be prepared for some cold mornings, <8c, with snow covered mountain passes and wondering Yaks and dogs on the roads. Awesome trip with a excellent touring company. Thank you Basnet
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Completed in Sept 2013. A great tour covering all the locations you would want, and more.
The Royal Enfield's surprisingly held up very well over the tough terrain and were serviced daily by the support crew (consisting of guide, driver and mechanic).
The company owner, Mr Basnet, was very welcoming and a pleasure to deal with.
Great motorcycle tour through Nepal
I was on a motorcycle tour on a Royal Enfield in September. Although Mr. Basnet had to improvise and changed the routes a few times, the motorcycling alternatives were great. We drove though many types of roads and saw regions which many tourists din`t see. At times, the riding days were hard, but I did expect this thing to happen. I must say that the Royal Enfields were technically very good and perfect for the road condition. The whole Parikrama team acted very friendly and professionally.
Laguna Beach, California
I would like to thank Kumar and Sushma Basnet for providing our group of riders with an experience of a lifetime. The team at Parikrama were faced with the challenges of supplying us with a great riding adventure while dealing with road closures, political unrest and the after effects of the earthquakes. During our two weeks of riding and sight seeing we have covered the jungle region of Chitwan through to the mountain region of Patale. We have ridden and bathed with Elephants, viewed Rhinos and seen the Himalayas including Mt Everest from a remote mountain top as the sun rises.
It's impressive to see where the Royal Enfield motorbikes will go and they have definitely added to the experience and memories that we have taken away.
If you want friendly service, a rich cultural experience and an adventure to challenge and reward yourself then i would not hesitate in calling Parikrama Treks and Expeditions.
Had a great experience from Kumar and the gang. Trip didnt always run to plan but thats whats lifes about. His team faced every challange and always found a positive solution. Tibet side guides were great could tell they had done it all before knew all the things people want to see and do. Hotels were generally good and food was great. Make sure you understand what bikes you will be riding in Tibet before you get on the plane as the border is still shut and we couldnt get enfields across so we used Chinese stuff ..not that flash. Kathmandu side lots of traffic get out of town as quick as you can. The rides were ok but our planning this side was ever changing, by no any fault of Kumar and his team. Great rides out to Pokora and into the mountains. Kumar is a seasoned tour operator who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed one. I would recommend and use his company for any bike tours or treking around the region again, when my kids get just a wee bit older
Kumar Basnet, what an absolute Champion. We had the privilege of spending 2 weeks with this man and his team on a 2 week motorbike trip from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp and back to Lhasa then Kathmandu to Daman and onto Pokhara return to Kathmandu. We were a small group of friends (2 Australian, 2 English) and Kumar managed all the logistics of bringing it all together from opposite sides of the planet.
What a trip!!
Tibet was full on with the checkpoints and officialdom but Kumars Tibetan guide Lakbar had all paperwork sorted for minimal disruption to our ride. Lakbars knowledge on our Potala Palace tour was second to none and he made things a breeze from airport pickup to airport drop off a week or so later.
The couple of issues we had with the bikes were quickly taken care of by the tour mechanics and the back up truck was always 15 minutes or so behind or in front of us.
Accomodation was always the best the town had to offer and the boys always knew where the good food was.
Nepal was a whole different riding experience. New mechanic and driver but the stars of the show were the Enfields, each one having its own temperament and perfect for the Nepali road conditions.
Again accomodation and food were fantastic.
Things went wrong daily but the Parikrama team always adapted to the situation to make it the trip of a lifetime.
Being my 7th trip to Nepal, I wish I had come across these guys before.
Good Luck with your business Kumar, you really do deserve success with your honesty and integrity.
Cheers Mark Edmonds
Royal Enfield motorcycle trip through Tibet and Nepal.
This was a very special trip, laid on by Parikrama Treks and Expeditions.
We did not know what to expect as there where changes to the itinerary due to the Chinese Government stopping the tourist crossing the boarder between Nepal and Tibet, but we were told in advance about the changes this was slightly concerning but we had no need to worry.
Our very knowledgable, professional and flexible tour guide Kumar Basnet came up with a brilliant plan "B" which allowed us to continue with our trip in reasonably good weather conditions.
Not only did we have the enjoyment of riding our bikes, we also had exceptionally good private tours. In Tibet "Lakbar" the Tibetan tour guide, taking us around Potala Palace and Sushma Basnet showing us the sites of Katmandu were just a couple of highlights.
On our journey the views and landscapes were exceptionally stunning to say the least, with the back up truck carrying the motorbike mechanic, our guide plus driver to cater for almost every eventuality.
We would normally end the day stopping at some of the best hotels in town walking to our rooms getting our luggage delivered, not even having to do check in at reception. Most of the food we ate on the trip was very good using trip advisor and the knowledge of our trusty guide Kumar, there was also plenty of snacking available on our regular tea breaks. I recommend this tour, but I highly recommend this company.
Kumar you have in deed given us a lovely memory. Many Thanks.

Am glad I decided to venture Nepal with Parikrama Treks. From my first point of contact with Kumar Basnet who was prompt in replying to all my queries and concerns - my experiences at Nuwakot, Gorkha, Daman, Chitwan, Nagarkot, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu have been amazing.
Mr Basnet and his daughter Sushma have been kind to accommodate my schedule. From the warm welcome to the comprehensive itinerary for me to experience as much of this beautiful country, I am grateful to the Basnets and their knowledgeable, experienced and forward thinking guide Anup Devkota for making my trip a memorable one.
I would highly recommend Parikrama Treks to anyone intending to explore the Himalayas, Nepal, India, China, Tibet etc.. weather hiking/trekking, cycling, biking or just visiting to take in the sights and surroundings. There was enough time to relax, meet and enjoy the warmth of the Nepali people, as well as indulge in their delicious local cuisine.
Will surely be a repeat customer as the Basnets and Anup made every day in Nepal interesting, exciting and enjoyable.
I just completed a September 2017 Kathmandu-Lhasa-EBC motorcycle trip. This type of trip is quite complicated with various arrangements such as Chinese Visa requirements and all the staff did there best to make sure that the tour flowed in an organized fashion. For example, in Tibet we needed to spend a couple days obtaining an actual Chinese temporary motorcycle drivers license.
I have no regrets for choosing Parikrama for this adventure motorbike tour.
Some friends and I hit a big birthday this year and decided to have an adventure to celebrate. An adventure it certainly was. After some research we decided upon Parikrama owned and run by Kumar Basnett. We were a bit nervous dealing with an unknown company in Nepal only by email but we need not have worried. I contacted some previous customers who had left reviews on Trip Advisor and they all gave glowing accounts. All they said about his honesty, helpfulness and willingness to provide the best possible service was correct. During the run up to our departure the rules changed regarding obtaining the group visa to enter Tibet so we were forced to spend longer in Kathmandu that we originally wanted to but Kumars lovely daughter, Sushi, took us on some sightseeing trips and the hotel was good. Kumar even arranged for one of our group to go riding in Kathmandu through the crazy traffic. The motorcycling in Tibet was fabulous. The guide, mechanics and truck driver were terrific and could not do too much to help us. They dealt with changing circumstances regarding road closures, compliance with Chinese traffic rules and regulations etc easily. The scenery was magnificent, the roads varied from good tarmac to pot holed tracks under construction and multi-switchback high altitude passes. The accommodation provided everywhere we stayed was the best available but obviously not 5 star luxury. The toilets along the route were ‘interesting’. The Royal Enfield bikes provided were comfortable enough, coped with the terrain well and were easy to fix. They had no great acceleration so overtakes uphill were a challenge but it was all really good fun. Kumars English is a little difficult to understand sometimes but his daughters is really good. As a lady rider I was initially concerned that the trip would be beyond my abilities but Kumar assured me that if I was worried about any section one of the mechanics would ride my bike for me while I hopped in the truck. As it was this was not necessary and I did the whole trip without incident. Best of all we stayed as close as we could to EBC and saw the sun rise over Everest without a cloud in sight. A truly fantastic trip. If you want a holiday this is not for you. If you want an adventure on motorcycles then contact Kumar and Parikrama.
Incredible trip to Everest by motorbike
A fascinating and adventurous trip by motorcycle through Tibet to the North Face of Everest, travelling via mountain passes that are higher than base camp itself.
This is not an easy trip and without our experienced organiser, in our case Kumar Basnet and his daughter Sushi it would have been challenging. Their experience and local knowledge proved vital, simply to get into Tibet.
The riding on old Royal Enfield 500's was superb, the scenery - breathtaking (literally) and whilst many roads were as good as anything in Europe there were some challenging sections, which added to the sense of adventure.
When on the road with our support truck, together with a guide driver and two mechanics, nothing was too much trouble for the support team.
I thoroughly recommend the trip and Kumar's company Parikrama Treks, if you plan to make this journey to Everest.
I've arrive in Kathmandu in 03/11 and Mr Kumar Basnet was there waiting for me in the airport to take me to the hotel. The next day, his teammate Mr Sujan was there with the bikes (he would accompanying me along the road and be the "GPS") and we start our journey in Kathamandu, them Bhaktapur, Nagarkot, Bandipur, Pokhara, Lumbini, Chitwan, Gorkha, Daman and back to Kathmandu in 14/11.
Amazing journey, great bike provided, a Royal Enfield Classic 500cc, great company from Mr Sujan and warmly welcome reception back in Kathmandu from Mr Kumar.
Parikrama team made all efforts and more to make this trip an awesome and pleasant one. Totally recommend them for whenever you plan to do in Nepal.
